Tulla Céilí Band 80th Anniversary

Tuesday 4th August, 2026

Tulla Céilí Band

The legendary Tulla Céilí Band, one of Ireland’s most celebrated traditional music ensembles, will mark an extraordinary milestone in 2026 as it celebrates 80 years of music with the launch of a special commemorative CD on Tuesday, 4th August, at 7:30pm in Feakle Community Hall, on the eve of the 39th International Feakle Festival of Traditional Irish Music. Over eight remarkable decades, the band has built a rich musical history, with many of Ireland’s finest traditional musicians playing pivotal roles in its success. Their distinctive swing, lift and rhythm have been lovingly passed from generation to generation, earning the band international acclaim and this year’s TG4 Gradam Ceoil ‘’Gradam Comaoine’ (Outstanding Contribution Award) 2026 in recognition of its exceptional contribution to Irish traditional music.

This anniversary recording is made even more poignant following the passing of Charlie Harris in May of this year. A central member of the band for more than a decade, Charlie brought his unmistakable lift, drive and musicality to every performance. Thankfully, he completed the recording before his passing, making this commemorative album a fitting tribute to his enduring legacy. The launch will provide the perfect opening to a week of celebration as the Feakle Festival begins on Wednesday, 5th August, and music lovers are warmly invited to join the band in celebrating 80 years of remarkable music, friendship and one of the finest legacies in Irish traditional music.
