Cormac Begley, a concertina player from the famous Begley family of West Kerry, plays 13 concertinas spanning from bass to piccolo register. He hails from a musical family, with his father Brendan and siblings all being musicians.
His debut solo album received critical acclaim, garnering nine 5-star reviews. The music from this album and his latest solo release, “B,” is central to the award-winning show Mám, directed by Micheal Keegan Dolan, and to Pat Collins’ film, “The Dance.” Cormac collaborates with musicians such as Liam O’Connor, Caoimhín O Raghallaigh, Martin Hayes, Liam Ó Maonlaí, Rushad Eggleston, Lisa O’Neill, and Ye Vagabonds. He has also recorded with artists including Lankum, Stephen James Smith, Ré, Jack Talty, and Lisa O’Neill. Cormac is the founder of Airt, a residential school in West Kerry, the award-winning Tunes in the Church live concert series in Galway, and more recently, an outdoor concert series from his campervan, the ‘Beauty.’ He hails from a musical family, with his father Brendan and siblings all being musicians.
